The inspiration for chalk art overflows right now! I finally decided to try a little project while I had a few minutes to myself. I used some supplies that I had on hand from grad school to create a fun little piece that I will probably frame for a pop of personalized style. I'm loving it so far. Next on my list is to try a bigger, more detailed piece.

Graphic Work
I thought it might be a good idea to give this blog a little more attention. It has gotten extremely neglected with summer being in full swing. But I am dreaming about Fall and cooler temperatures and all the fun that comes with it. One thing I'm doing a lot this Fall is graphics work for friends and family. My best friend is getting married in September and I've been working on invitations to events. My daughter also turns 3 in September, so I will be doing all the invitations/printables for that as well. So here is a random sampling of some of my past work. I primarily use Photoshop. Occassionally, I dabble with Illustrator and Indesign. I would love to learn more as this has always been a passion of mine. So without further ado . . .
I will try and post more this week or weekend. I truly love graphic design and wish I had the time to learn more. Thanks for checking it out!

Exciting Times
As a member of the first generation to grow up with technology being apart of our daily lives, its no wonder that to us innovation is not just nice, its expected. The design profession has long held the pursuit of innovation as one of its' biggest cornerstones. And now, as I'm so blessed to be apart of this profession, I am more blessed to be apart of it at such an exciting time.
It has long been argued whether or not Interior Design was in fact its own profession. And if so, on what terms. Well, today I eagerly read as the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) released a global declaration that provides not only structure but innovative vision for our field as a whole. The organization, led by Shashi Caan, held a global symposium last month in New York City with the primary goal to produce a document that could unite a field that has always struggled to define itself.
The declaration defines 7 topics that when expanded upon gives a basis that could guide and direct the evolution of the Design field as a whole. It will be interesting to see how practitioners and educators alike translate those topics into measurable outcomes. There certainly is plenty of room for growth and this is by no means a bad start. It is no doubt a very exciting time to be in Interior Design.

Up to Date . . .
While it is a blast for me to take a trip down memory lane reviewing past projects, for blogging purposes I thought today I would just bring us up-to-date on my portfolio. I would love to eventually use this blog to discuss design theory and research on the built environment. But for now it will be maintained as an online portfolio for my work. Feel free to ask questions or offer opinions. Feedback is always welcome and essential to evolving as a designer. Please click on any picture for an expanded view. So here we go . . .
*Some of the last pics may look familiar, please bear with me. The easiest way to include everything was to use my actual digital portfolio pages.
